QUALIFICATIONS

Position Summary          

This position assists Catering Manager in overseeing all Catering Functions to include, coffee breaks, buffets, plated and reception events, offsite caterings, backstage catering; any and all functions serving any food & beverage items.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates in training of all servers, and works alongside them with a hands-on approach.
  • Position requires extensive interaction with clients and employees
  • Assists in maintaining labor costs to budgeted goals.
  • Assists in maintaining all banquet equipment, cleanliness, regular inventories and annual maintenance.
  • Must be creative in designing buffets and event décor.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service is a must.
  • Responsible for all food and beverage signage for catering events.
  • Fulfilling the service per each Banquet Event Orders (BEO), as well as Catering Department Service Standards.
  • Daily contact with Catering Manager and Catering Staff. Frequent contact with Event Services Department staff, Senior Catering Manager, Catering Sales Manager, The Director of Catering and other SMG employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources department; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High School or GED Diploma.
  • At least four years of industry experience and/or education in hospitality management. Experience in a banquet facility servicing meals for large events is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current Tulsa County Food Handlers Permit and Oklahoma ABLE Commission Liquor License.

  • A strong communicator: be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format to management and staff as well as to all types of clients.
  • Organized, able to prioritize, and have strong time-management skills.
  • Fast-paced and able to multi-task with a strong recall memory in order to achieve and maintain high levels of guest satisfaction.
  • Positive and able to motivate all staff to offer hospitality service which exceeds guests’ expectations.
  • Experience in event planning and/or conference planning.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong orientation to customer service, and ability to work with other staff members in the facility.
  • Able to work independently, as well as a team player.
  • Result-oriented individual.
  • Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.
  • Able to be creative with buffet presentations, and maintain a quality product.
  • Knowledgeable about food safety and basic health code policies and procedures.

 

Computer Skills

  • Operate a personal computer using Windows, Office and other standard office equipment.
  • Excellent computer skills to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

  • This position requires minimal stooping and lifting, but substantial walking. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
