HIGHLIGHT: TULSA LIGHTBULB

“Highlight” is a new public art installation at Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC) created by Colorado artist Andrew Tirado representing Tulsa’s past, present, and future with three oversized and integrated elements.

A 2-prong electrical plug representing Tulsa’s periods of rapid transformation.

The power cord refers to ideas, interconnectedness, and invention. Placed between the prong plug and light bulb, the power cord also exemplifies the present as a conduit from the past to the future.

The third (and main element) is a light bulb raised 28 feet above the South Plaza ground.

The light bulb is the universal icon for invention, fresh ideas, problem solving, energy, enlightenment and understanding. As such, it’s an ideal symbol for the future-both for Tulsa and for all who share the city’s vision.
