Sarah Leavell, Sous Chef at Cox Business Center and BOK Center Arena, won the 2017 Oklahoma Restaurant Association’s Culinary Cook-Off and was declared Oklahoma’s top chef over the weekend. The Culinary Cook-off has twelve of the most talented chefs in the state race against the clock to create dishes using a mystery basket of ingredients. The Cook-off goes until its narrowed down to the last two chefs who are judged by a panel of industry pros. Chefs are judged on product taste, creativity, plate presentation and more.
This was Sarah’s sixth time in the competition, and in addition to holding the prestigious title she also took home $3,000 for her win. Besides her work for SMG Tulsa, Sarah also teaches culinary arts at Tulsa Tech.
“Once the plates were cleared and scores were made, fellow judge Fleischfresser leaned over to me and said,
‘Those are the two best dishes I’ve ever eaten in 17 years doing this competition.'” ~ NewsOK
